As far as the Targ deformed babies, I'm not sure we can be convinced that either baby was truly as deformed as we are told. Both tPatQ and tRP are written from flawed perspectives, years after the fact and secondhand. I wouldn't be surprised if Visenya was simply still born, or born with a heart defect, and the business of the escapes and tail were added on telephone style. It happened with Tyrion, after all.

It is also worth pointing out that there are real life birth defects and handicaps that can cause what we told for Visenya. Look up Harlequin's disease for more info, but be warned that the information is very sad and depressing.

I also don't know if we can take the word of MMD at face value regarding Dany's child. No POV character saw Rhaego's body. Even if MMD told it true, surely it would be a result of her blood magic. Life for Life, Death for Death etc.

That's all not to say I disagree with you that Targs may have some magical draconic blood, I am almost certain they do.

A subtopic I have interest in, (and surely the WOIAF will shed more light on it) is the name Visenya itself.

First, the simple: It seems to be the male equivalent of Viserys, and those two are some of the few "Targaryen" names without the "ae" lettering (No wonder Jaehaerys was such a great king, he has TWO ae's!). Some Targaryens have non-Targaryen names, such as Good Queen Alysanne, so I don't count that. Nor Duncan Targaryen, who Egg named after Ser Duncan. Same with Rhaenyra's son Joffrey, who was technically a Velaryon anyway. Lucerys doesn't have it, but also he's technically a Velaryon (however if he had become king he would've taken the name Targaryen). Both of Baelor Breakspear's sons broke that name-tradition too (Valarr and Matarys), and this is slightly interesting because Baelor didn't really look Targaryen, he looked Dornish. Valarr also looked more Dornish than Targ aside from the silver streak in his hair (we don't have a description for Matarys). I wonder if GRRM did that on purpose.

Second, the mystery: Why was this the first and apparently only other child we see named Visenya? There are tons of Aegons, tons of Rhaenys' etc. Best guess is because she was the mother of Maegor, and had a lot to do with his reign, and getting him on the throne in the first place. Thus she would be associated and considered partly responsible for his awfulness. The name might be tainted. Maegor's name didn't really come up again either, except once that we know of. (Aerion Brightflame's named his son, the one who was passed over at the Great Council, Maegor. What a guy).

Perhaps Targaryens can take a lot of heat. Otherwise, the dragon riders would be done as soon as they got blasted by another dragon. When we all remember the lessons about not touching the stove. When we barely touched something very hot we needed cold water and ice packs to dull the pain to a point that we could bare it.

If the Targaryens were like regular people they couldn't take these dragon blasts of heat/fire and still keep on fighting. Couldn't happen. So, my opinion, is that if they are not completely fireproof, they are fireproof compared to non-Targaryens.

This is a good way to think about how rumors in ASOIAF get out of control.

Here's another example similar to the heat thing: the idea of disesase.

Dany isn't afraid of the bloody flux because Viserys tells her that Targaryens don't get sick. He's clearly exaggerating as we've seen Targaryens die of disease throughout history. However, this is thinking in opposite extremes. It doesn't have to be "immune to all disease" or "normal". There is room in-between. It could be that they have better immune systems than most.

Just like the fire thing. Some people say "Targs are immune to fire" and some say "no, they are completely normal, Dany's thing was a miracle". Again, there could be room in-between. They could have a higher tolerance for heat, or even something like a higher normal body temperature. Dragons do give off a lot of heat as you say, so this fits nicely. Dany notices her dragons steaming while just sitting there as babies, for example. Riding a creature that hot might require greater tolerance.

So by that logic, would the potential other two dragon riders need a higher resistance to heat? Or maybe an extra thick saddle?

This topic deals with dragon and how does it resist from heat. We normally hear or see that dragon blows fire so it means the dragon could really resist from the heat. Dragon resembles the strength of the particular kingdom.
